  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/4 cup flour (for crumble)
  • 1/4 cup butter (for crumble)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for crumble)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. In another bowl, mix cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough, then top with diced apples.
  8. Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices.
  9. Prepare the crumble by mixing oats, flour, butter, and sugar.
  10. Top the slices with crumble and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Mix powdered sugar and milk for glaze and drizzle over the warm buns.

Notes

  • Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
  • Store leftover buns in an airtight container.
