- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- In a small saucepan, warm the milk until it is just warm to the touch. Add the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and cloves. Stir to mix well.
- Add the warm milk mixture, melted butter, and the egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into rolls. Place them in a greased baking pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For an extra touch, top rolls with cream cheese icing.
