  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and buttermilk.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Fill each cupcake liner halfway with the batter, sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture on top, then cover with additional batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, then allow to cool.
  8. For the glaze, combine powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cupcakes and serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter.
  • Make sure to not overmix the batter to keep cupcakes fluffy.
