French Onion Chicken Orzo Casserole

A delicious and hearty casserole featuring the flavors of French onion soup combined with chicken and orzo, topped with turkey bacon for added crunch.

  • 1 pound orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g. Gruyère)
  • 1/2 cup turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked orzo, shredded chicken, caramelized onions, chicken broth, sour cream, cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and top with crumbled turkey bacon.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until heated through and cheese is bubbly.
