- 1 cup sticky rice
- 2 ripe mangoes
- 1 cup coconut milk
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and steam it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 30-40 minutes until tender.
- While the rice is cooking, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then set aside.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about ¾ of the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir to combine and let it sit for 15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Peel and slice the mangoes into thin pieces.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk sauce. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a splash of vanilla to the coconut milk sauce.
- Make sure the mangoes are ripe for the best flavor.
