Potato and Sausage Chowder

A rich and hearty potato and sausage chowder perfect for chilly days.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups diced potatoes
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, sauté the onion and celery until softened.
  2. Add the sausage and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the potatoes, broth, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are tender.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and heat until warmed through.
  6. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add some cayenne pepper.
  • Leftover chowder can be thickened by blending part of it and mixing it back in.
