- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
- 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
- 24 ladyfingers
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, for dusting
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy.

- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool, then fold in the mascarpone cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
- Combine the coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip the ladyfingers in the coffee briefly and layer them in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.
