Tiramisu

A delicious recipe for classic tiramisu that combines coffee-soaked layers of ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan until just simmering, then slowly whisk it into the egg mixture.
  3. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool, then fold in the mascarpone cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gently fold it into the mascarpone mixture.
  6. Combine the coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip the ladyfingers in the coffee briefly and layer them in a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  9. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use espresso instead of regular coffee.
  • Feel free to adjust the amount of sugar based on your preference.
